The crisis between Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, and his deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has widened with the relocation of the deputy governor’s office away from Government House. Bloomshire Nigeria has uncovered the new office of the embattled deputy governor - it’s now located at No. 7, Dennis Osadebey Avenue - a somewhat abandoned building tucked in the Government Reserved Area, designated for his official duties. The plan, according to sources, is yet to fully unfold; these are merely the initial signs of potential developments. If he absconds or neglects his duties, the battle-tested governor may deploy another strategy to exert further control over the man who seeks to succeed him.

The Edo State Government through the Nigeria COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) has disbursed a second round of grants to 362 beneficiaries whose businesses were negatively impacted by COVID-19 in five local government areas across the three senatorial districts of the State. In a statement, the Head, Delivery Platform for DLI 1.3 (Livelihood Support) under the programme, Ms Flora Bossey, said the beneficiaries were selected in accordance with the guidelines of the programme, noting that the beneficiaries were verified and enrolled in the beneficiary database. According to her, “the beneficiaries for the grant support were selected from Egor, Ovia North East, Esan North East, Owan West and Etsako West LGAs bringing the total beneficiaries supported by Edo State Government to 524 since the commencement of the programme.” She added that the beneficiaries are small business operators with existing businesses, comprising youths, and vulnerable...

In the wake of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government, fuel prices have increased astronomically leading to rise in prices of goods and services and overall cost of living. The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has felicitated Professor Ileogben Sunday-Adeoye and Professor Alfred Ogbemudia on their appointment as Acting Medical Directors of the National Obstetrics Fistula Hospital, Benin City and the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Benin City, respectively, which are proposed hospitals by the Federal Government in the State.
