Edo govt assures sustained investment in education, tasks teachers on dedication to duty*


The Edo State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustained investment in the state's education sector, promising to partner with teachers and other stakeholders to improve the quality of learning across all schools in the state.

Edo State Head of Service, Anthony Okungbowa Esq., gave the assurance when he received members of the Edo State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) who were on a courtesy visit at the Government House, Benin City.

Okungbowa noted that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration is keen on transforming every sector of the state, with education at the forefront because of its crucial role in societal development.

He urged the teachers and other Edo workers to be committed and dedicated in the discharge of their duties, supporting the government's efforts at transforming every sector of the state.

Reassuring the government's commitment to the welfare of teachers, the Head of Service noted, “the Edo State Government will always place the welfare of workers as a top priority as every Edo worker is valuable and essential for the programmes and policies of the government."

According to him, “You are valuable to us as a government, as you are the moulders of the right ethos of the society. The government values you and places you at high level.”

On his part, Chairman of the Union, Comrade Bernard Ajobeiewe, disclosed that they were at the Government House to officially introduce the newly elected executives of the Nigeria Union of Teachers to the Head of Service.

He further thanked Governor Obaseki for the ongoing reforms in the state education sector, including the promotion of teachers, provision of a conducive learning and teaching environment and availability of teaching facilities to aid service delivery, among others.
