Obaseki plans extension of service years

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has disclosed plans by his administration for the extension of the service years of teachers in the State.  To achieve this, the governor has forwarded the Harmonised Retirement Age Bill for the extension of retirement age for teachers in the State to the Edo House of Assembly (EDHA). Obaseki revealed this when he addressed teachers at the 2023 Teachers’ Day ceremony held at the Conference Hall of Teachers House in Siluko Road, Benin City. The bill, he said, is to harmonise the present service and retirement age of teachers, which provides for the extension of the service years from 30 to 35 years and retirement age from 60 to 65 years, noting that as soon as the House passes the bill into law his administration will commence its implementation with immediate effect.  According to him, “As per release of approval letters for a harmonised retirement age for teachers, I don't see why you should worry. JUST IN: 11 VEHICLES BURNT IN IJORA TANKER EXPLOSION

By  Wawa Reporters  - October 13, 2023         No fewer than 11 vehicles were burnt to ashes last night when a petroleum tanker fully loaded with Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol exploded in the Ijora area of Lagos state. It was gathered that no life was lost in the unfortunate incident, as drivers and other ran to safety before the explosion. General Manager, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Mrs Adeseye Margaret, confirmed to SlyeNews that, “the raging fire has been curtailed”. According to her: Properties involved are: 11 vehicles which include: 2 tankers, 1 tipper truck, 3 trailers, 3 cars and 2 micro-mini busses (korope). “No life and no injuries recorded as occupants escaped unhurt, ” She stated. There is no iota of doubt, irrespective of political differences, that Governor Godwin Obaseki has significantly improved State Competence, relative to his predecessors and across the States in the Country.  To achieve this, he had to rescue the State from private capture by ruthless non-State actors; this freed up public resources for public purposes.  He has held himself to a very high ethical and work-ethics standards, scrupulously focusing on the interests of the real people whilst staying on the Constitutional tracks in line with his oath of office. Edo Govt Set to Launch Emergency Comminication Centres

Edo State government has disclosed plans to set up Emergency communication centres across the state as part of Governor Godwin Obaseki's administration   resolve to ensuring   security of lives and properties of every Edo citizen. Edo to purchase new CNG-buses to boost free transport scheme - Obasek

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said that the state government has placed orders for new Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-buses to boost its fleet for the state’s free transport scheme. The governor, who said this in his Independence Day speech, noted that his administration is, “taking critical steps within the limits of the resources available to us as a state by initiating and implementing policies and programmes to respond to the recent fuel subsidy removal policy by the Federal Government.” According to him, “We have introduced free transport service for passengers on all routes operated by the state-owned Edo City Transport Service (ECTS), among many support programmes that the Edo State Government has put in place to reduce the challenge, sufferings and exorbitant cost of living faced by Edo people. “We are glad with the salutary impact of this initiative which covers 13 intra-city routes and several intercity city routes daily, covering towns and village
